The Final Product

Hello! so, I am FINISHED!!! I am so pleased. there were many times where I thought this would turn out terrible, but I love my costume, and it does everything I wanted it to do, I hope you enjoy it too;

The skirt is wide, and flowy.

The gold on the skirt represents chain-mail, and therefore, War,

Falcon wings, with feathers drawn on.

Here is the necklace "Brisigamen", on it is a heart, representing Love. The whole theme of gold and jewles, shows that she is rch (the daughter of the richest god, Njord.) The jelwel holding the cape up is inspired by classic Viking syle (see the picture below.)

The eye make-up is to represent cats.
Here are the golden tears she cried as she wandered the Earth, searching for her lost husband, Od,

The crown
The earrings, with the little girl charms to represent her daughters, Hnoss and Gersimi.

A wedding ring, to represent Od.

A golden daisy (Freyja's flower), and Nordic hooks.

The zipper, with a Nordic hook over it. The ribbon has a Viking style pattern on it.

On the whole, I a really happy with my costume, it is exactly what I wanted, and it integrates so many symbols that I have even managed to surprise myself! I filmed a video about a week ago, but I have not had access to an editing program, I will try to make a video, but otherwise, these pictures will have to suffice. Just to note, I decided to make the skirt, vest and shirt three separate pieces because I wouldn't be able to get the dress on otherwise (the vest opens at the front, and the skirt at the back, so suddenly you just cannot get into it.)

Here is a list of what I managed to portray and how:

  • Her love for cats: The cat eyes.
  • That she is rich: Gold, and jewels.
  • Her daughters: earrings.
  • Love: heart on the necklace.
  • The famous necklace "Brisigamen"
  • War:  gold "chain-mail" on the skirt.
  • That she can turn into a falcon: The wings/cloak.
  • Daisies: the gold daisy around the waist.
  • Od: The ring
  • The story of her crying tears of gold: gold eye-shadow drawn as tears.
I also used Viking/Nordic style buttons and hooks, and the ribbon I chose has a very Nordic pattern (it looks like a knot pattern.)

Here is a  little on how I followed my plan:
Week

So, it turns out I finished my project earlier than I had planned, I did not really do it in the order I wanted, but I ran into problems, and the vest took a lot longer than I had expected, and I changed plans etc, etc. The important thing is that I got everything done. I will hand this in on Thursday, and will now get started on my report.

BYE!
